Mick Young is Leader of Northamptonshire County Council. He has been a Councillor since 1985. Before becoming Leader of the Authority he was Chair of the authority's Education and Libraries Committee for 5 years.
He worked for 25 years in the computer industry leaving as a senior manager. He is an independent consultant, specialising in organisational development and change management issues within the Private and Public Sector. Recently he has worked with the Audit Commission on Corporate Governance Inspections.
He represents the county on the Regional Assembly, the East Midlands Regional Local Government Association, the County Councils Network and at the Local Government Association. He also acts as an adviser to the Local Government Association executive on improvement of public services.
